The ultimate BX version, an absolute rarity!
42, 000 km from new, first owner, from factory and preserved!
History
The BX 4TC was produced in only 200 units to allow Citroën to obtain Group B homologation in 1985.
Unfortunately, only 86 were sold, and Citroën destroyed the rest of the production.
Today, barely around forty are recorded worldwide, and fewer than ten would be registered and running in France, making this model a true collector’s item.
It is equipped with four-wheel drive, hydropneumatic suspension, as well as running gear with double wishbone which bears little resemblance to the standard BX. The DIRAVI power steering assist from the CX is fitted.
The engine used is a 2. 2l derived from the 505 Turbo, it proved very robust in competition and offers good potential for power increase.
It is turbocharged by a Garrett turbocharger with an air/ air intercooler and an electric cooling fan (derived from the ventilation system) to limit the low-speed lag. It is fed by Bosch L-Jetronic injection, coupled to a 5-speed gearbox sourced from the **.
With its brutal look, four-wheel drive, engine from the 505 Turbo and hydropneumatic suspension, it embodies the boldness of a era when Citroën dared everything, even wild rallying.
A rare, atypical piece, and full of history, ideal for a discerning collector.
Description
This CITROËN BX4 TC we offer for sale was sold new on 25 June 1987, with the purchase of an Alpine V6 GT that its owner wanted to sell.
The BX 4TC has remained in the same family until today.
This car has not covered many miles but has undergone regular maintenance supported by a maintenance file and its low mileage.
It comes from the Daunat workshop, a reference in the Citroën brand. The engine has been drained and the gearbox, the 4 tyres have been replaced and the wheel centres redone.
All the original manuals are present, we also hold the certificate of conformity as well as the original order form.
An appraisal was carried out in 2024 with a value of €145, 000.
The mechanicals are in very good shape, the 2. 2L 4-cylinder is sound, starts easily and delivers full power with its big turbo.
The 5-speed gearbox works very well as does the four-wheel drive which gives exceptional handling.
The clutch is also in very good condition with no signs of weakness.
The hydraulic system is in perfect working order, the car rises and settles without difficulty and offers excellent road behaviour, especially in corners, where it remains stable and precise.
All running gear is in good condition and shows no particular play.
Braking is effective and well balanced, serviced by ventilated discs and 4-piston calipers at front and rear.
The original exhaust is in very good condition and offers a round, pleasant sound.
The four wheels are in very good condition, wheel centres renewed and tyres are new.
The original paint is in good condition for its age.
Underbody panels are also in very good condition and free of corrosion.
The original velour upholstery is very comfortable and superbly preserved, as is the rest of the interior. All gauges and electrical controls operate.
