Description

Finished in Dark Worcester Blue with a contrasting cream leather interior, this Marcos Martina Spyder presents as a well-sorted, enthusiast-owned example with extensive mechanical work and thoughtful upgrades throughout.

Under the bonnet sits a Ford Essex V6, rebuilt and enlarged to 3. 1 litres in 2017 by Classic & Modern Engine Services. The engine is complemented by ceramic-coated exhaust manifolds, a custom twin-exit exhaust system with free-flow silencers, K&N air filtration, electronic ignition, and a high-torque starter motor. Cooling and fuelling have been modernised with a Kenlow electric fan and Facet electric fuel pump with cut-off for added safety and reliability.

Power is delivered through a Ford Type 9 heavy-duty 5-speed gearbox, rebuilt in 2017 by BGH Geartech and fitted with the desirable long first gear and alloy bellhousing, paired to a Capri Atlas/ Salisbury Type D differential.

The chassis and running gear have been uprated to match the performance. The front suspension uses powder-coated Cortina Mk5 components with Polybushes, while braking is handled by Wilwood Dynalite 4-pot calipers with vented front discs, retaining Capri 3. 0 rear drums. The car sits on 14” Performance Alloy Wheels with period-correct proportions.

Inside, the cabin retains a very classic Marcos feel, finished in cream leather with blue Wilton carpets. A custom walnut dashboard houses Capri 3. 0 Mk3 instruments, complemented by a Moto-Lita steering wheel. The overall presentation is honest and usable rather than over-restored, very much in keeping with the character of the car.

Registered as a historic vehicle, the car benefits from zero-rated road tax and classic MOT status. It is supplied with a comprehensive owner-compiled Marcos Martina workshop manual, including specifications and wiring diagrams – a valuable asset for any future custodian.

This is a well-engineered, properly developed Marcos Martina that has clearly been owned by someone who understands the marque and its mechanical needs. A usable, engaging classic with strong performance and unmistakable Marcos styling.
