A very rare opportunity to acquire a regularly ridden, but never raced 1988 Honda VFR750R (RC30)
The last owner purchased the RC30 in 1989 when the machine was a little over one year old and during those 37yrs he has meticulously maintained it, regardless of cost. Despite many of the circa 5, 000 RC30’s built between 1987 and 1991 going straight to race teams, this particular RC30 has been road-registered from new and is a Genuine UK model.
The cylinder heads and valves were a known problem on early bikes due to regression issues and replaced under warranty by Honda. You can take comfort from the fact that these upgrades were carried out by a main dealer in 1990, with zero valve clearance issues since. Front discs are another known weakness, having a tendency to warp, particularly as they wear. New upgraded discs have been fitted by the last owner less than 2, 000 miles ago.
The last owners trusted technician who serviced this particular RC30 is one of the most successful homologation RC30 technicians in the UK, he said that one of the biggest problems with RC30's is the lack of use. This can lead to significant problems, particularly with the fuel system, but be rest assured there are no such issues with this bike.
This machine would appeal to someone who wants to enjoy the unique RC30 experience on a regular basis, as opposed to wrapping it up and storing it away.
