Description
Introduced in 1962, the MG B Roadster became one of the most recognisable British sports cars of its era during an eighteen-year production run. With its well-balanced handling and lively performance, it perfectly embodied MG’s famous “Safety Fast” philosophy. Powered by the proven 1, 798cc ‘B’-series four-cylinder engine and paired with a four-speed manual gearbox, the MGB offered enjoyable open-top motoring with the reassurance of front disc brakes and rack-and-pinion steering.
This particular example was and was recently acquired from an elderly gentleman who had owned the car since 2018. During his ownership the car benefitted from a substantial restoration programme, including a repaint, full interior retrim and extensive recommissioning work, leaving it both well presented and enjoyable to drive.
More recently, further mechanical investment has been made. In September 2025 a reconditioned engine supplied by MG B Hive was purchased at a cost of £2, 200 and subsequently installed. At the same time the car received a new clutch and aluminium radiator, while a Kenlowe electric cooling fan has also been fitted to improve reliability and cooling in modern driving conditions.
The car is fitted with a hood installed in recent years, and additional weather equipment supplied with the car includes two tonneau covers as well as a hood cover.
A particularly attractive addition included in the sale is a wire wheel conversion kit, comprising a set of wire wheels fitted with tyres together with the hub conversion kit — a desirable upgrade that enhances the classic appearance of the car.
Overall, this MGB Roadster represents a well-presented and sensibly improved example of a much-loved British classic, ready to be enjoyed.
