** 1969 Moto Guzzi 499cc Nuovo Falcone**

• Successor to the original Falcone
• Only manufactured in small numbers in 1969
• New Lafranconi silencer fitted

Moto Guzzi was established by Carlo Guzzi and Giorgio Parodi in 1919, with backing from Parodi's father, and ideas from Guzzi. Their first machine emerged in 1920 for scrutiny by Parodi senior who, fortunately for the pair, liked it, and gave the go-ahead for production to commence. From their inception, Moto Guzzi were destined always to produce technically interesting motorcycles. Initially, and for many years, they were associated with their horizontal in-line, four stroke engines. Racing successes in the TT followed in both 250 and 500 classes, with Stanley Woods doing the 'double' in the Senior and lightweight classes in 1935. Racing success continued after the war, until their withdrawal from racing in 1957. The original Falcone featured in the model range from 1950 to 1968, and saw success as a police, military, and sporting road/ race model. However, the design was dated, and in need of a refresh by 1968. Accordingly, the Nuovo Falcone was produced for 1969 to capitalise on the success of the earlier model. Produced in very limited numbers in 1969, the Nuovo Falcone went on to be manufactured in larger numbers than the Falcone, although is perhaps more of a rarity in the UK.

BWA 517G is offered by our private vendor, having purchased it in 2021 from his neighbour, who had owned it for approximately 25 years. Since acquisition, it has been used only in fine weather for limited mileage. Mileage displayed on the odometer, which is believed correct, is only 28, 039 Kms (approximately 17, 430 miles). The vendor fitted a new, original Lafranconi silencer three years ago, and should require only light recommissioning and the usual safety checks before returning to the road.

It is only being sold due to the vendor's advancing age. Documentation comprises a current V5C and a copy rider's handbook.

Ignition key is present, along with keys for the panniers and toolboxes.
Offered with key

All lots are sold ‘as is/ where is’ and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding. Visit the Bonhams Motorcycles website for all pertinent auction information.
