Rare 1952 Porsche 356 Pre A "Bent Window" Coupe - California Car
This 1952 Porsche 356 Pre A "Bent Window" Coupe is a rare and exciting discovery out of California. Light blue metallic with grey cloth interior. It runs and drives but requires minor cosmetics as well as brake servicing to be considered roadworthy. At some point in its life, the car was fitted with a period-correct 1500 engine from 1955. A very complete and solid car overall. A minor dent on the nose occurred from light contact during transport.
The legendary 356 was first brought to life in a small workshop in Gmnd, Austria in 1948. Increased demand led to production shifting in 1950 to Stuttgart, where the now steel-bodied cars were assembled by Karosserie Reutter. Initially built with a split windscreen, in 1952 the styling was refined with a more modern one-piece bent-window. Simple, clean, elegant, and understated, the 356 was showing clear signs of the steady development and evolution demanded by Porsche's designers and engineers. The new model was undergoing almost constant improvement as the factory strove to simplify the manufacturing process for these largely hand-built automobiles. Rare and desirable, this lovely bent-window coupe would make a wonderful addition to any Porsche collection and is sure to attract plenty of admirers at local gatherings and events.
