Description
MG RV8 – The final evolution stage – a German-made vehicle
Chassis number: SARRAWBMBMG - 000946
Delivered in British Racing Green metallic (paint code BLVC 617) and equipped with the sought-after later R380 gearbox, this vehicle was ordered in March 1994 by its sole owner via Rover Deutschland GmbH in Neuss at a new price of DM 59, 825. Interestingly, the first registration occurred almost exactly one year later on 15 March 1995. While all vehicles exported to Japan were standard with air conditioning, this was optional for European models. Our German example therefore received in October 1998 a dealer-fitted air conditioning as well as a practical remote central locking – both systems continue to function flawlessly. Notably, the rare hardtop in contrasting black uni stands out, a nowadays increasingly sought-after accessory.
The vehicle is a one-owner from new and is offered with a comprehensive history file. This includes, among other items, seven valuation reports from 1995 to 2010, TÜV documents from 2010 to present, the original dealer order form from 1994, and a comprehensive collection of maintenance and repair invoices.
Aside from a few touched-up stone chips on the bonnet, the car presents in excellent condition. The interior is exceptionally well preserved; only a small wooden flaw on the driver’s door (see illustration) is to be noted. The alloy wheels are immaculate. Further additions include a discreetly installed battery charging system (charger included) near the ignition switch. Mechanically the engine impresses with instant throttle response, the distinctive V8 soundscape, and the later improved R380 gearbox, which in our view contributes to a noticeably more harmonious driving experience. The vehicle is offered with fresh MOT and German historic registration (H-plate).
This rare example with low mileage, documented provenance and desirable equipment represents an increasingly collectible modern classic.
