Donkervoort is a Dutch automobile manufacturer that produces ultra-light sports cars in small batches, founded in 1978 by Joop Donkervoort.
Joop Donkervoort distributed the Lotus Seven and then Caterhams in the Netherlands, but changes in national regulations forced him to stop his activity. He then embarked on creating a new car adapted to these rules by improving the Seven. He started his activity in his home garage and the first cars were produced in 1978.
The Donkervoorts are based on the Lotus Seven but in a higher-end version.
