The Ferrari 458 Italia is widely regarded as one of the finest Ferraris in history.
The first two digits of its name indicate engine displacement (4. 5 litres) and the last, the number of cylinders (8). “Italia”, following “Modena” and “Maranello”, harks back to the brand’s geographical roots.
The 458 Italia is powered by a naturally aspirated 4. 5-litre V8 producing a specific output of 125 hp per litre (95 kW per litre) — a very high figure for a V8. Carefully developed aerodynamically to reach high speeds, it also features electronic driving aids.
The engine in the 458 GTB is a 4. 5-litre V8 generating 562 bhp at 9, 000 rpm, with maximum torque of 540 Nm at 6, 000 rpm. The seven-speed gearbox is fitted with dual-clutch technology. Ferrari’s official figures are 0 to 100 km/ h in 3. 4 seconds, 0 to 200 km/ h in 10. 4 seconds, and a top speed of over 325 km/ h.
