Description

Blu Olandese | Twin Spark-powered | Jenvey EFI | 188bhp

This 1971 Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior has been built with a clear objective: to retain everything that makes the 105 Series such a wonderfully communicative driver’s car while elevating every aspect of its performance through some of the most respected names in the Alfa Romeo world.

According to the Centro Documentazione Alfa Romeo, this car was completed on 25th September 1971, finished in its original and highly attractive Blu Olandese with Cinghiale interior before being delivered to Turin, Italy, on 30th December 1971.

Its most recent custodian commissioned an exceptional fast-road build centred around Ian Ellis, Alfaholics and, most recently, Jenvey. The result is a car that feels every inch the lightweight Alfa coupe enthusiasts dream of owning—responsive, eager and wonderfully analogue, but with the refinement and reliability expected from modern engineering.

At its heart is an Ian Ellis-built Twin Spark 2. 0 litre engine, developed to fast-road specification with JE 85mm forged pistons, uprated camshafts, lightweight clutch and a carefully matched supporting specification.

Initially running on carburettors, the car has since evolved further with the addition of Jenvey 45mm throttle bodies, an Emerald ECU, mapped ignition and electronic fuel injection, creating an engine that combines razor-sharp throttle response with dependable drivability in all conditions.

The results speak for themselves.

On the rolling road, the Twin Spark produces an impressive 188bhp at 6, 796rpm, alongside 148. 5lb-ft of torque at 5, 441rpm—figures that transform the character of the lightweight GT Junior while remaining entirely usable on the road.

The supporting specification reads like an Alfaholics catalogue in all the right ways. Alfaholics supplied the cooling package, stainless steel sports exhaust, fuel system, Twin Spark ignition and EFI components, adjustable suspension arms, brake balance box, GTAm cam covers, quick steering arms, mesh grilles and lightweight GTA-style 15-inch wheels. Suspension has been developed using Alfaholics geometry, Koni dampers and Eibach springs, while braking is handled by the proven Classic Alfa big brake conversion, now paired with Ferodo DS2500 pads.

Inside, the focus remains firmly on the driving experience. Recaro Pole Position seats, an Alfaholics Autodelta roll hoop, Sabelt harnesses, Stack electronic instrumentation and thoughtfully integrated switchgear create a purposeful environment without losing the charm of the original cabin.

The build has been meticulously documented throughout, with regular servicing, tuning and development carried out by Ian Ellis and specialists familiar with extracting the very best from the Alfa Twin Spark platform. The progression from carburettors to the latest Jenvey throttle body setup demonstrates a continual desire to refine rather than simply modify, resulting in a car that starts, idles and performs with remarkable composure.

Every invoice tells the same story: thoughtful engineering, quality components and no compromise in execution.

The 105 Series Alfa Romeo has always been one of the benchmark driver’s cars, and this GT Junior captures everything that makes them so special. Lightweight, beautifully balanced and now producing performance to rival far more exotic machinery, it remains unmistakably Alfa Romeo—just distilled into an even more focused, engaging and rewarding package.

For those who appreciate the significance of names like Alfaholics, Ian Ellis and Jenvey, this is far more than a modified GT Junior. It is the product of careful development by some of the UK’s leading Alfa Romeo specialists, built to be driven exactly as its creators intended.
