Description
So good, the owner had to own it twice!
The shape and style of a scirocco is second to none. A recognised shape for all the best reasons. Old and Square is the best combination hands down and this is a wedge to behold.
Volkswagen introduced the second generation of the Scirocco in 1981, and unlike its predecessor, it was designed in-house but with a different approach.
The Mk2 Scirocco is 16cm longer than its Mk1 predecessor and they even widened out the sides for more elbow room and raised the roof for more headroom! Meaning if you’ve ever sat in a MK1 and thought “this is too small for me” then the Mk2 could be the answer!
The CL kept the iconic single wiper on the front windscreen, has a fuel consumption indicator and a special gear change advice light! In our Devon showroom this Cornish Scirocco has already had some buzz as expected sitting next to the rounder Beetle and Karmanns that came before.
This very tidy “Alpine White” (L90E) ran 75BHP from the factory with a top speed of 104mph (corrrrr) and has a pristine folder of all of its history neatly tucked away including ownership history and mileages that each owner covered! It has lived a very Cornish life having moved owners 5 times but mostly remaining within the County.
It is in fantastic condition inside and out. Headlining clean, no sagging and the dash area has no cracks/ warping.
She comes with the original Instruction manual, service book and some well kept original documentation that is fascinating to read and hold. It includes all previous ownership details and the miles covered by each and their history with it.
The sale includes several boxes of spare parts and Scirocco-related items including 2 Radio Cassettes and 2 Hella headlights.
She has been garage-kept as far as the current owner is aware since 2000. This car and its paintwork are in great condition. Pulls well in all gears and is very keen to get going on the open road.
The exhaust has a delightful slight growl and tinkle, and she turns heads of all ages everywhere she goes!
The current owner says: She has been regularly serviced and is reliable and a joy to drive, purring happily along on local roads easily as my ‘daily’ but hasn’t had much opportunity to be opened-up on bigger roads recently. Has driven long distances in the past 10 years including Cornwall to Portsmouth, and Cornwall to Wiltshire on a number of occasions. MOT exempt, but put through ‘training’ MOTs:
