HERE is a very interesting old bird indeed. What we have is a 1967 Mark 2 Cortina 1500 Super 2-door auto (shift on the steering column, very neat) with full length Webasto roof, Lotus Cortina suspension and Lotus steel wheels.
I do wonder, and I am sure someone will put me in the picture, whether there are any more 1500 Super 2-door examples left in the UK?
A classic car mad friend of mine has enjoyed this rarity for the past seven years, happily using it on a regular basis just as it is. I say "just as it is" because paint is coming off in some areas. Anyway, turn a blind eye to the paint itself for a second and look down the flanks of this rock solid, all metal Cortina and its sides (panels) are as arrow-straight. It would be hard to find better. Drives really well and there would be scope to drop in a more powerful engine should anyone choose to. The extra wide transmission tunnel which accommodates the auto box would help with that.
Granted, a rare and somewhat bizarre mix. But use as is; paint it; change engine and box etc etc. Please come and view.
