Here we have a superb low mileage Volvo 240 (244) 2. 1 DL Automatic saloon. This lovely example has covered just 69000 miles from new at the time of writing. It was supplied new by Dean Smith of Stockport and still bears its original supplying dealer number plates. It has had just 4 owners in total and it has always been in the Cheshire/ Stockport area. Looking at the MOT history dating back to 2005 it has covered only 2350 miles in nearly 12 years.
The specification includes Power Steering, Central Locking, Rear Armrest, Rear Seatbelts, Front & Rear Disc Brakes, the original Volvo LW/ MW radio and manual choke. This is a basic spec that has very little to go wrong (no ECU's!) but has just enough to features to be a practical daily driver in modern traffic conditions.
The MOT is until June 2018. As part of our pre sale preparation we have replaced the following:
Battery
Both Front Calipers
All Four Tyres
Cambelt & Tensioner using genuine Volvo parts
Although no history has been passed onto me the car really does speak for itself with a patina that is consistent with such a low mileage example. One of the previous owners passed away with the history going missing at that point.
The condition is among the best I have seen inside and out. The interior I would rate at 9/ 10. It is all original with very little wear. I would be 10/ 10 if it did not have several slight cracks on the dashboard top and the original parcel shelf trim having been replaced with carpet.
The exterior is equally superb with mostly original paint although there has been some paintwork carried out beneath the rubber belt line on each side of the car. The quality of the workmanship is excellent.
In 1991 this car was subject to an insurance claim though not categorised. My understanding being that it was stolen/ recovered and the owner at the time still kept it until 2014.
This really could be a show winner but is also an excellent daily driver that is only a fraction of the way through its life. Barring incidents this 244/ 240 will still be on the road long after its modern equivalents have expired.
