INTRODUCTION:
The 535i SE is part of BMW's E34 series of cars. The power is produced by a naturally aspirated engine of 3. 4 litre capacity. This unit features single overhead camshaft valve gear, 6 cylinder layout, and 2 valves per cylinder. It develops 211 bhp (214 PS/ 157 kW) of power at 5700 rpm, and maximum torque of 305 N·m (225 lb·ft/ 31. 1 kgm) at 4000 rpm. The engine delivers its power through to the wheels by means of a 5 speed manual gearbox. With a claimed kerb weight of 1610 kg, the BMW 535i SE manages to cover the 0-60 mph benchmark sprint in 7. 4 seconds and the quarter mile from rest in 15. 9 seconds. Maximum speed claimed is 227 km/ h or 141 mph.
According to "how many left" there are currently only 36 of these cars licensed in the UK and 82 SORN (which I am sure many of which will be either old parts vehicles or old, un drivable examples) . This makes this a very rare car indeed and certainly not to be missed in this condition.
This cirrus blue metallic example is presented in super order throughout, having been owned by the same gentleman since 1990, who purchased it from the then local BMW Dealer "Cowie Teesside" now Cooper Teesside BMW. Upon his recent passing his son sold the car to ourselves. This really is a very genuine example that has been in the hands of such a fastidious owner for a long period of time.
SERVICE HISTORY:
As you may imagine with such a fastidious owner this vehicle comes supplied with an amazing service history which includes no fewer than 23 entries in its original service book (the bulk of which have been carried out by the supplying dealer). An MOT certificate for every 25 years it has required one, including the most recent only in March where there were no advisories given. We also have a large folder full of documentation demonstrating just how well this vehicle has been cared for as well as all the original book pack and manuals from new. The gentleman has also left a handwritten note with various information on stating that it must always be ran on Mobil 1 synthetic oil
The car also benefits from still having its full pristine tool kit intact in the boot, original full size matching spare, torch in the glovebox and both keys.
BODYWORK:
This is largely a very original car with some minor defects upon close inspection (it is a 29 year old car after all!) A very small scab roughly the size of your thumbnail on the bottom of the drivers door is the only thing worth noting. There are a small number of stone chips to the leading edge of the bonnet and some light corrosion on the edge of both front wings (I have tried to photograph this but they are that small you can not make it out on the picture). There are a few shopping trolley type "drinks" in the sides but again these are impossible to view apart from to the trained eye. All exterior brightwork and trim is in great condition with nothing damaged or corroded. The vehicle was the gentleman "special car" as he had a golf for every day use according to his son so the e34 was garaged all of its life and never driven in poor conditions, hence the superb condition.
INTERIOR:
Fitted with optional sports seats with electric adjustment in silver leather the interior is in absolutely superb order and has aged incredibly well. The only sign that you are sitting in a used vehicle is the fact that there is a slight discolouration on the edge of the drivers seat squab (this maybe visible in the picture). Fitted with the originally supplied period pioneer removable head unit complete with original security code and all manuals. Every switch, handle and piece of trim still feels wonderfully tactile and most importantly still works!
WHEELS AND TYRES:
Original fitment BBS alloys shod with pirelli 225/ 60 zr16 tyres, all 4 alloys are in super condition as are the centre caps and have never been re-powdercated/ refurbished . All four tyres still have excellent tread remaining.
MECHANICAL CONDITION/ TEST DRIVE:
This car is simply without fault mechanically, a recent 80 mile round trip over some fantastic North Yorkshire Moors roads demonstrated just how well this car really does drive, everything works so well and there are no knocks, wobbles, clunks or any issues at all. The straight six m30 engine pulls like a train and the gearbox is so fluid and rewarding it really is a very special car to drive. Test drives are welcome and actively encouraged.
