Description

It was mid-year 1955, when the pilot-house cab with wrap around windshield was introduced by Dodge.

The C Series pickups will be known forever, as the first V8 powered Dodge truck, the thoroughly modern, light weight and compact 241cid Power Dome V8 engine featured overhead valves, 145hp and 215 ft/ lbs of torque at 2400rpm.

ABOUT THIS TRUCK

This truck is Concourse. It was restored correctly to the highest of standards and is now one of the best, if not the best example of this model in existence.

This truck was purchased almost new in 1957 by a contractor in Batavia, Illinois, USA.

This owner passed away in 1963 and this truck was stored by his Missus until a grandson inherited it in 1979.

 The 23799 miles are ORIGINAL

In 1980, the grandson moved the truck to Sierra Vista, Arizona USA, where he lived. At the time, it sat outside in the Arizona sun, which is the reason why the original paint had faded.

The truck was then sold in Florence, also in Arizona USA.

It was then sold again and shipped to its next owner in Minnesota USA.

The original two tone colours are Canyon Coral and Chilean Beige – still in the same ORIGINAL colour scheme today.

 Factory Colour Chart available

Manufacturing data for this C-3 Series B Model available. This was provided by a certain Bruce Thomas from the USA, who has worked for the Chrysler Corporation since 1946. His early assignment was promotional manager for Dodge Trucks. He now works part time at the Corporate Historical Collection. Bruce explains that this is a very rare truck because it has the 259. 2 cubic inch V8 engine @ 169 horsepower and it has late 1955 two tone paint colours used for 1956 models.

It also has some rare factory accessories such as:

grille panel opening painted Chilean beige

  front bumper guards

  foam rubber back seat cushion

  right side interior sun visor

factory radio, directional signals, twin tail lights

  rear bumper and dash clock.

This truck is in perfect show condition throughout. It is absolutely faultless.

This example was the recipient of a two-year frame off restoration. The truck exhibits a level of quality unobtainable from assembly lines in 1950’s era. It started out as a rust free example and wears all its original tin, from the beautiful grille to its optional rear bumper.

The box and fenders were alkaline dipped, fully neutralised and phosphate to insure they last for many years to come. The frame and front axle have been powder coated and the correct shade of black and all chrome pieces were re-plated plus a few extras to subtly set it off.

The radio was completely rebuilt with original antenna. Proper little details that make the difference in longevity of a proper restoration include the custom made under hood support to keep the two hood halves from rubbing and chipping the paint, which was a very common problem with this design.

Options include factory radio, heater, rear bumper, bumper guards, rear view mirror, side mirror, electric wipers, V8 engine, factory clock, high side box and deluxe interior. The factory jack is present and still in the factory cloth bag.

Documentation includes factory owner’s manual, dealer parts record, Dodge owner service certificate and Sep 5th, 1957 license applied for receipt.

This truck was last sold via auction at USD90750. 00 by Barret Jackson, Reno Tahoe 2013 in the USA, plus expenses to ship to and register in New Zealand etc.

It recently just won people’s choice in the Concours D’Elegance Show in New Zealand.

This truck is in ABSOLUTE PERFECT, SHOW CONDITION throughout. It is ABSOLUTELY FAULTLESS.
