A fabulous 635 Highline here and one of the very last produced in 1988
Originally first seen on the roads in 1976, and designed by Paul Bracq, famous for many striking and elegant design, the 6 Series was not to disappoint either
The super smooth 3. 5 litre injected 6 cylinder motor was mated to a 4 speed automatic gearbox with Economy, Normal or Sport functions (in Economy 4. 000 rpm was good for 120mph all day long - very good going in the early '80's when this upgrade was introduced)
Beautiful lines, and with a large glass house cabin the BMW marque was to take huge steps into the luxury car market sector in the late 1970's and further into the hedonistic 1980's
This was a period of complete consumer decadence - cars were sold at a premium everywhere, Specialists would bump up the supply with 'Grey Imports' and if you could manage to get a new car, you could use it for a year and still sell it again for what you'd paid originally !!
Top brass in business, or arty types such as Architects, Photographers, Advertising Executives and the like snapped them up of the BMW Showroom floors with alacrity
Ours has had only 6 six owners in nearly 30 years (and yes the second owner purchased this 635 when only 6 months old from Hexagon BMW Official Dealership in Highgate) - and latterly at one stage Andrew Brodie (he of Citroen SM / Maserati Merak fame) was her enthusiastic keeper
Now with only 65. 000 miles since new and with the full leather interior (I mean FULL leather, as not a morsel has been clad in plastic) in mint condition you would not be surprised if you saw the mileometer showing half of that!
The alloy wheels are in mint condition, as is the paintwork too
All of the electrical goodies which there top of the line Coupe's were provided with new (windows, sunroof, seats, rear blind, mirrors, air conditioning etc etc) are all in tip top condition too
Mechanically there is full service history, stamped service book and also more recent invoice for a Top End overhaul (£5. 000) plus and upgraded stereo and speakers too (£1. 000), 3 sets of keys (unusual to say the least), original unused Medical Kit, original boot lid tool kit complete, original book pack, stacks of MoT's and further stacks of invoices from BMW dealers (mostly by Hexagon) - since new by the way

With CSL's and M6's streaking away with meteoric price rises, the Highline 635CSi is sure to follow onward
