Mini Cooper ‘S’ Mk 2 – Restored/ Matching Numbers
John Cooper, owner of the Cooper Car Company and designer/ builder of Formula 1 cars quickly saw the potential of the Mini for competition. Mini designer Alec Issigonis and Cooper collaborated to create the Mini Cooper in 1961 and the rest is histor.
Our Tartan Red, Black Roof and Black Trim is a genuine matching numbers Cooper ‘S’ that was the subject of a pain stacking restoration with subtle performance upgrades including a Downton tuned head and works manifold. The work was completed over a ten year period and the car has been carefully stored/ sparingly used since. Most recently additional work included engine out/ gear box rebuild, new carburettors, and detailing of engine bay.
The history file contains the Heritage Certificate confirming that the car is as she left the factory, retains original registration number and a full photographic record of work, huge number of invoices/ MOTs, previous owners, press pictures etc.
This car drives superbly, is very quick and the pictures testify to the quality of the restoration. It is the nicest Cooper ‘S’ I have ever seen and has to be viewed and driven to be fully appreciated. We expect her to find an appreciative new owner very quickly.
