Here for sale, we have a recently rebuilt 2a, onto a new, galvanised chassis. As a 1969 model, it is a "crossover", and as such reasonably rare. It sports a razor bonnet, maltese grill and headlights in the wings, whilst retaining the correct 2a "hard dash."
On the outside, the whole vehicle has been rebuilt to maintain the original specification.... mirrors on the wings, 600 tyres on original rims (better acceleration), period number plates, mudflaps, and original cappings.
The interior also reflects the "original" feel, with 3 front standard seats (belts fitted nicely with seat belt bar), twin rear bench seats and deluxe matting throughout. There is therefore room to take the whole family to the pub or the beach! The dash is all standard too, and well presented, and there's a useful overdrive fitted.
We are informed that the recent rebuild included some engine work - and this seems very apparent by the ease with which it starts, and the way in which it pulls - it really is the sweetest 2286cc diesel engine we have ever heard. This translates to a really purposeful driving experience. The 600 tyres give good acceleration, and once up to speed, the overdrive adds a useful extra gear and more relaxed cruising.
Currently, our new, similar rebuilds are just shy of £30, 000 with a 9 month waiting list - so this one, at a couple of years in and still fresh, is, in our opinion, excellent value for money. If you are looking for a rebuilt soft top 2a to keep for a long time, then this makes excellent sense!
