In January 1957, the A55 Cambridge was introduced to replace the aging A50. The new model had been restyled and now had a larger boot with much larger rear window. The car proved very popular with the public and over the next two years over 154, 000 cars were produced with the two tone colour scheme being an expensive option when new. We are delighted to offer an absolutely stunning A55 that has recently been the subject of a full body restoration/ recommissioning after being tucked away for many years in the previous elderly keepers garage and only sold because of ill health.
The new owner, a professional car restorer/ sprayer who took the car on as a private project, removed all doors, wings, interior fittings & glass and found absolutely no corrosion – pictures to prove. The car was sanded down to bare metal and then resprayed in original two-tone grey/ white - the mirror finish is an absolute testament to his skill and commitment.
The original red leather interior, carpets & door cards were all refreshed - not replaced - in order to maintain originality. On the road the Cambridge drives superbly, receives positive comments wherever you park – it is stunning - and was held back for a family wedding just before coming into Milestones.
The car is light to drive with excellent visibility and lots of space for the taller driver/ passengers. Ideal for the Goodwood Revival/ Races, classic car shows or simply family trips to the pub we recommend early viewing in order to fully appreciate this lovely car.
