Description
The Renault Alpine GTA was produced by the Renault-owned French manufacturer Alpine between 1986 and 1991. It was the first car launched by Alpine under Renault ownership (though Alpine had been affiliated with Renault for many years with its earlier models using many Renault parts). It effectively updated the design of its predecessor, the Alpine A310, updating that car's silhouette with modern design features like body-integrated bumpers and a triangular 'C' pillar and with large rear windshield. It used the PRV V6 engine in a rear-engined layout with extensive use of polyester plastics and fibreglass for the body panels making it considerably lighter and quicker than rivals such as the Porsche 944. It was one of the most aerodynamic cars of its time achieving a world record 0. 28 drag co-efficient. The PRV engine is a petrol V6 engine jointly developed by Peugeot, Renault and Volvo Cars, with the turbocharged model being a 2, 450cc unit producing 200hp.

This original right-hand drive example was delivered new in 1986 and was one of two press cars used during the GTA debut in the UK. C33 was featured on Top Gear in April 1986 (RoadTest driven by Sue Baker, see - details above) and also included in Motor magazine in July 1986 (twin test with Lotus Espirit turbo). The vehicle was used up until 2002 at which point it was put into storage by a dealer until 2009, when a full recommission was undertaken to put the vehicle back on the road.

I acquired C33 in February 2011 (mileage 64225) and have undertaken numerous works to further restore and maintain the vehicle in top condition. The list of works are extensive, including: Engine out recondition, new clutch and re-faced flywheel, new radiator, new brake discs and s/ s brake lines, new stainless steel water pipes (run the full length of the vehicle front to rear), upgraded turbo, new Samco engine hose set, refurbished all suspension and running gear, ECU remap (now runs 275bhp), new Michelin MXW 255/ 45/ 15 rear tyres, re-con starter motor, new fuel pump, brake calipers refurbished, new door rubbers, new headlamps and lenses, new windscreen, full body respray, plus more.
The car has been owned by both 'Club Alpine Renault (CAR)' and 'Renault Alpine Owners Club (RAOC)' members, and was recently valued by RAOC at £16, 000. This rare car is in great condition, both cosmetically and running-wise, and has a rich service & works history folder.
