First registered in 1957 this Sunbeam S8 Motorcycle, while in the hands of the vendor, has under gone some mild restoration and a rebuild of the engine and gearbox. Including all bearings, seals gaskets and cables, a new kick start quadrant and worm plus new clutch friction and pressure plates. The engine also had the cylinder head lightly skimmed, new valve guides, piston rings and timing chain. While the wiring was tidied up with new parts where required, the ignition received a new twin coil “lost spark” ignition system and the dynamo was checked.
Prior to his purchase in 2014 the tin ware on the bike had been repainted into this lovely “Lotus Gunmetal” colour, plus some rechroming had been carried out. So past the new petrol taps, horn, brake switch, “gel” battery and for safety’s sake, small LED indicators the vendor fitted, that is how the bike is today. Having only covered 300 miles since its overhaul it comes with is a paper trail of all parts and jobs done since 1983 with some interesting comments and a list of previous owners since 1987.
A very nice useable example of this rare and desirable British motorcycle.
