Description
Austin A35 – Show Winner/ 7, 500 miles from new
Introduced in 1956 the A35 replaced the A30 giving better acceleration & top speed to meet the improving road conditions and growing expectations of drivers in the mid 1950’s. The car was popular with over 280, 000 sold over the next three years.
Our example was originally purchased by Elsie Jones on 1st June 1958 in the favoured combination of Palm Green with matching interior. The car was used sparingly and with under 5, 000 miles on the clock the car was placed under a dust sheet in Elsie’s garage and forgotten about for the next 40 years.
The Austin was purchased in 2003 by an enthusiast who commenced a recommissioning project that included fuel lines, plugs/ points/ condenser, brake cylinders/ shoes, engine mountings etc. The exercise was completed in 2008 when the Austin received a full respray in the original colour with new window rubbers – only because the original paint had been scuffed with boxes placed on the car while in storage.
Today the car is absolutely stunning with zero corrosion, it is simply one of best A35s we have ever seen, and is utterly original down to the rubber mats under the more recent carpet set. it is simply one of the nicest A35’s you could hope to find and has won many awards since 2008.
The popularity of A35’s has grown significantly over the last eighteen months and this stunning little car is one of the best. We anticipate this A35 will find an appreciative home very quickly.
