We are delighted to present for sale this lovely Series 2a Hard Top. On the outside, the vehicle has many period and original features, such as period round mirrors, rear grab handles, original galvanised cappings, matching bonnet mounted spare to deluxe bonnet, and 'Land Rover'® rear mudflaps. It also has very rare, original glass light lenses (these are lovely), and a front towball to allow better manoeuvring. In addition to these features, the vehicle has a rear towbar with electrics and additional reflectors on the side wings for added visibility when turning. 600 tyres are fitted as per standard factory requirements, which means this old girl really looks the part when out on the road. Period badges on the front grill finish off the look.
Whilst in the care of the previous owner, the vehicle has benefitted from a body-on refurbishment, which included works such as a new exhaust, new brakes, new fuel pump, new ignition switch, new starter motor, new head gasket, new battery, new front vent seals, new front and rear parabolic springs for a more compliant ride and a full major service. Please note that this list is not exhaustive, and lists just some of the works carried out. Receipts for several of these modifications are included in the history file.
On the inside, the vehicle benefits from Deluxe Highback Seats, with 3 point inertia belts for additional comfort. The middle seat has been removed in favour of two fire extinguishers for additional safety. In the rear, a brand new set of rear bench seats are fitted, to allow 6 passengers in total, including the driver. Deluxe Matting is fitted throughout, and twin wiper motors are fitted - a nice touch.
Out on the road, this vehicle gives a nice, period driving experience which is well complemented by the addition of these new parts, stopping and driving as it should. The new head gasket is good to know about, and the petrol engine is whisper quiet on tick-over. This vehicle can be fully converted to soft top if required, but we have elected to leave the hard top for now, as some customers require the added security that this gives - conversion prices are available on the website at the accessories page.
In summary then, if you are looking for a smart, recently refurbished Series 2, with capacity for 6 in comfort then this could be for you.
