Vintage and Prestige are proud to offer this 1934 Singer 9HP Le Mans For Sale.
This stunning pre-war sports car was originally supplied from the factory to Henley’s Manchester, to Mr O. Shield a resident of Altrincham.
This Singer stayed in the UK during the war years, but at sometime was acquired by an American forces soldier, who took the car back to the United States on his return after the war.
It spent many years in the USA, and during that time underwent some restoration work to the engine, bodywork and framing and latterly included fitting a new fuel tank which the last owner had custom made. The photos of the tank construction are in the information with the car.
This work was carried out for a Mr Brauburger, who was a car company employee. Unfortunately, he passed away and the car was retained for some time by his widow, Mrs Jane Brauburger.
Eventually she decided to sell the car to the current owner and the transaction was completed by her son in law on her behalf. The car was shipped from the states in late 2012 and was delivered to Grantham in Early January 2013.
Since its arrival back in the UK, probably 60 years after leaving these shores, the current owner commissioned various works including:
Fitting of new kingpins, brake linings, replaced the cylinder head gasket, fitted a replacement set of 3 ring pistons, new battery and some remedial paintwork carried out on the wings. A new luggage rack has also been fitted.
The car has the full Le Mans spec engine with counterbalanced crank, large capacity sump, and is the correct original engine as per the factory dating certificate.
