1967 Renault Caravelle Coupe/ Convertible GT With Factory Hard Top Original RHD UK registered example supplied with original green log book . Supplied new to a Harley Street surgeon , quite a car in its day cutting a dash around the West End . Sold to its second owner who kept the Carevelle for many years . MOTs supplied with the car go back to 1977 when it had covered just 25, 543 miles . In 1988 this lovely Caravelle was sold by "Scotts" of Mottingham , London , Renault agents . An invoice supplied shows the sale price then being £4500 !!! A mileage at the point of sale is recorded at just 26, 273 miles . Presented in superb condition with unmarked white coachwork . The underside is excellent and any inspection is welcome upon our own lift . We have in the past owned and sold this charming French lightweight , Fully servicing the car , Fitting new brake master cylinder , new calipers all round plus brake pads , New wheel trims and a new battery , It had also in the very near past had new flexi brake hoses , New tyres and a new fuel filter . The 1108 cc 4 cylinder water cooled motor starts well and sounds excellent . On the road the Caravelle drives with out apparent fault , Easy smooth gear change and happy at 50 MPH . The GT model has a detachable hard top , no hood , but its easy to take on and off , Stylish with or without its top on .
The Caravelle was Renaults name for its European examples but was known as the "Florida" in America , Launched in 1958 on the Renault Dauphine platform and designed by "Frua" of Italy . This being the latter example had the 1108 cc water cooled motor , Syncro gear box and the up rated suspension coming in in 1964 . A popular little car State side and in Europe although few RHD examples were sold in the UK and it was pricey but stylish .
