EXTERIOR
Visually similar to the Championship winning cars made famous by rally legend Tommi Makinen, this Passion Red Evo 6. 5 presents exceptionally under our studio lights. With just 50 UK-supplied examples in this colour scheme it comes as no surprise that red TMEs sold through Ralliart have fast become the most sought after of all.
This particular example boasts an excellent finish throughout and is complete with all the correct Works stripes and decals applied; they were replaced in 2010 following a full correction detail. The glistening paintwork is entirely free from any fading, scratches, or unsightly blemishes. Looking closer the black trim laced throughout the exterior presents as new, but most importantly both the body and underside remain corrosion-free.
INTERIOR
The rally-inspired theming continues inside. The supportive Recaro seats are upholstered with special red cloth and black velour bearing the Tommi Makinen name, which is of course unique to the TME. Remarkably, the deep bolsters remain in excellent order with no rips or unsightly bobbling to speak of. The rear seats are also unmarked and the door cards still retain their factory fabric covering. The foot-wells are protected by a set of tailored overmats and in the boot you'll find a spotless Ralliart carpet, beneath which the spare wheel, jack, and wheel brace are located.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The engine bay of this example retains a superb appearance, and dyno readouts taken at 43k miles demonstrate excellent engine performance. On test the five-speed manual gearbox still feels tight, and the all-wheel-drive system provides enough confidence to power though corners at speed.
An extensive main dealer and specialist history accompanies the car. A new clutch was fitted in June 2010 at 44k miles and the cambelt was replaced just a few months later. A full service has just been carried out by Wiltshire & Sons Mitsubishi at the current mileage for the new keeper's peace of mind.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The car sits on its original set of 17-inch Enkei wheels in white. All four alloys are in pristine condition having been refurbished to the highest standard by Lepsons. They sport the correct Ralliart and Enkei decals, which have been applied beneath the lacquer for a lasting finish.
On test the Brembo brakes perform effortlessly, stopping the car quickly and in a straight line. The rear discs and pads were replaced with performance parts at 43k miles, as were the front discs.
HISTORY FILE
This extremely rare, UK-supplied Tommi Makinen Edition was first registered in January 2001. It is one of only 50 UK Ralliart cars in Passion Red with the Special Colour Package, and one of very few supplied worldwide. This example retains the correct Works stripes and Ralliart decals, and is present with an excellent history that includes a raft of invoices, MOT certificates, tax discs, and the dealer-supplied document pack with handbooks.
The car has been very well maintained from new, as detailed below. The first eight services were undertaken at Mitsubishi main dealers with comprehensive specialist history following that. The car has just returned from Mitsubishi once again following a full service and health check.
