Description
Bike listed as replica as the frame has the GS numbers but also other numbers from the road bike series, I have no information whether these were added for registration reasons or frame was converted following a crash, the Ducati archives are not available any more. The frame is however identical to a Grand Sport model and does have the correct swingarm, 2 position top shock mounts, characteristic and original "S" bend in rear engine mount tube and the wide rear engine mounts, unlike the narrow road bikes as crankcases are much wider.
Also not original are the seat, tank and possibly mudguards. As these bikes were typically raced hard, parts were discarded or damaged over time
The tank is aluminium and seems to have been signed by Giuliano Maoggi, winner of the 1956 MotoGiro Di Italia, please see the following link:

Single overhead cam Marianna Grand Sport, ex Jack Silverman collection bike and restored by his team at his Colorado museum.
The late Jack Silverman was a prolific collector of bikes with a focus on Ducati, he found and restored many rare race bikes.
These are the first race bikes built by Ducati, first series were 100cc, this is a second series with 125 cc.
Original Amadoro magnesium brakes/ hubs with original 17" WM1 alloy rims and special Baroni 34. 9mm forks.
Special 22. 5 Dellorto SS1 carb,
All electrics and full original lighting kit fitted including generator.
I have the NOVA certificate so could be registered and run on the road.
The restoration is very high quality with excellent paint and chrome, but also built to be used and not just hung on a wall, would be a great entry for the Moto Giro.
