The Appeal
Based on the official Formula 1 Safety Car used during the 2000 and 2001 seasons, the Mercedes-Benz CL55 AMG F1 Limited Edition is one of the most significant AMGs of its era. Just 55 examples were produced, of which only eight are believed to have been allocated to the UK market, each featuring an all-aluminium body, ceramic disc brakes (a first for any road car), and the active ABC suspension system. Finished exclusively in Brilliant Silver Metallic and loaded with bespoke interior detailing, it was a technological showcase from Affalterbach that set it apart from the standard CL55.
This example is number 39 of 55, and is reported to be factory standard, retaining every special option associated with its F1 pedigree. It has been part of a private collection since 2016, reportedly always garaged and used only in dry weather. The current owner has maintained the car with regular servicing alongside various additional works, most recently including a full refurbishment of the ABC suspension system, wheel refurbishment, and new Michelin sport tyres fitted in November 2025.
With its extreme rarity, factory-standard specification and careful custodianship, this is a compelling opportunity to acquire one of the most exclusive modern AMG models.
