Description
MGB GT V8 – 2 Owners/ 34, 000 miles from new
On 29th November 1973 Mr Wilfred Clarke collected his brand new MGBGT V8 from the Braid Bros Limited, Colwyn Bay. The V8 had only recently been launched and Mr Clarke had chosen the Bracken body colour with Autumn Leaf trim although, as a concession to safety, automatic inertia-reel seat belts were also specified.
Mr Clarke was a bachelor and the car was used very sparingly by him. If caught out in the rain he would hand dry his pride and joy in the garage once he was back home and always personally maintained the car.
Wilfred passed away in the early 1990’s and his estate, including the prized V8, passed to his nephew Peter, also a bachelor. Peter moved into his uncle’s house but left the MGB in the garage – he only used the car for one year (1998/ 99) driving just 20 miles - and never registered the car in his name.
The MG was finally sold in 2012 to a family acquaintance who recommissioned the car and only used her for local classic car shows and charity events
Today this unrestored, absolutely original factory specification V8 is as she was when purchased in 1973. The MG has covered just 34, 000 miles, drives like a two year old car and the V8 burble is utterly addictive - we have driven the car for nearly 200 miles and she has not missed a beat. The history folder contains original Bill of Sale, 1974 dealer recall letter, handbook, old MOT’s/ tax discs and more recent invoices
Available on the open market for the first time this remarkable car would grace any collection and will give much pleasure to the lucky new owner.
