Description
The Jaguar XJ-S was launched in 1975 and renamed XJS in 1991 when it was face-lifted with larger rear side windows, new rear end styling and the new 4. 0 version of the AJ16 for the sic cylinder models.
This car is a 1992 “phase 1” XJS facelift in Brooklands Green with Doeskin leather trim. It has covered a correct 102k miles from new and has full history to 98k miles in 2001 when it was put into dry storage for 14 years. In 2014 it was sold to its last owner who re-commissioned it with new front shocks, steering rack, brake overhaul, ATF fluid and filter and engine service.
The upper body is in excellent rust free order and the underside is original and rock-solid condition, the interior trim is in good order (new head-lining recently fitted). The engine brakes suspension and automatic transmission are also in fine condition and it drives beautifully.
There are one or two minor cosmetics that could be improved - a small area of lacquer peel on the driver’s door and boot lid which also has a couple of shallow dents and some paint peeling on two of the alloy wheels but no rust.
There are plenty of older XJS cars around under £10k but finding a sold one in good order is surprisingly difficult and with restoration costs hugely outstripping values it is important to find a solid car. This one is excellent and offers superb value.
New battery just fitted. MOT until December 2018.
