The Jaguar XJS produced between 1975 and 1996 is the epitome of the luxury grand tourer with a top speed in excess of 140mph, a 0-60 time of under 8 seconds. The final incarnation launched in May 1991 benefits from a revised AJ6 engine and refashioned rear glass/ buttresses giving a smoother line that today is widely acknowledge as the model of choice and arguably the best GT Jaguar has ever produced.
Supplied new by Harwoods of Pulborough in September 1993 to Mr DGK Smith, Director at Dor to Dor Carpets Crawley our XJS HE has had just 5 careful owners from new. The service book has twenty one stamps (main dealer and Clarkes Jaguar XJS Specialists) with MOT’s and a variety of invoices in the history file, all Jaguar handbooks and complete toolkit
The original Brooklands Green paintwork with factory coach-line is remarkable with no evidence of corrosion (rust proofed from new) and just the odd small mark commensurate with age. The beige leather interior, wood veneers, carpets, roof lining etc. are all excellent and you truly step back to 1993 as you sit behind the wheel. The contemporary press likened the drive as “a powerful flying carpet – so smooth and quiet” and that is as true today as it was then.
The XJS has been undervalued for years and many have been poorly maintained. Our car has always been cared for by fastidious owners and it is the nicest looking, best driving example you could wish to own.
