MGB GT V8 (Factory) – Heritage Reshell
Milestone Classics are delighted to offer to market this remarkable MGB GT V8 that we originally sold three years ago to a private collector. The owner has just bought another ‘Milestones’ classic for his collection.
This original chrome bumper factory V8 was previously owned by a local retired naval engineer who truly cherished this car for nearly twenty years. In 2003, after six years of use as a daily driver, a full heritage body-shell restoration was commenced.
With the objective of a stunning/ safe/ fast road car the MG was despatched to highly respected specialist HCR of Horam who completed all body work and a number of mechanical upgrades in conjunction with the owner
A new, and very desirable, Powertrain Engineering 4600cc engine was purchased through the MG Owners Club. Originally destined for Morgan the last remaining engines were snapped up by the MGOC and offered to members to build the ultimate V8.
The no expense spared specification was further enhanced with an Offenhauser manifold, Edelbrock carb, new 5 speed R380 gearbox, MGRV8 coil over front suspension, parabolic rear springs, Minilite wheels (not replicas) and new leather interior.
The finished car produces 219BHP (factory cars were rated at 137BHP and the Frontline Development MGLE 50 is rated at 213BHP). Most impressive is the 287. 3lb ft at 3503 RPM…it is an amazing car to drive and one of the fastest MGB’s on the road.
