We are delighted to offer this superbly rebuilt rally specification 1972 MKIII Mini onto the market. The Mini has spent the past three years in South Wales with one of our long term customers who had plenty of fun driving the Mini. It is road legal with current MOT and is absolutely superb to drive. The Mini has been rebuilt over several years and has covered very little mileage since completion. The car has been superbly put together and the Mini has some very valuable equipment and upgrades. The cost of such a rebuild to this specification would be in excess of our asking price therefore offering an excellent opportunity to purchase a rally Mini for competition or road use.
The body was restored with new front wings, A post panels replaced and the whole bodyshell painted in Flame Red. The engine was bored out to 1330cc, rebuilt with semi dished pistons, Titan 1. 5 lift roller rockers, 286 Kent cams, steel S crankshaft damper and Metro polished and ported Big valve head. Fitted with a 45 Weber carburettor, 3 branch manifold exhaust system with steel inlet manifold and lightened new steel flywheel and balanced rods and crankshaft, the Mini is super quick and offers outstanding performance. The Mini is also equipped with a 4 pin 3. 9 ratio differential, straight cut drop gearbox and competition clutch.
The Mini has a full poly bushed adjustable rear suspension, uprated brakes with vented discs, 4 pot calipers and hydraulic handbrake cable. The front suspension has 1. 5 negative bottom arms that have been poly bushed, adjustable front tie rods, solid subframe mounts and both top and bottom poly bushed engine stabilisers. The Mini also boasts quick release engine mounts, Power Grip water pump and alternator pulley, Aldon distributor, twin fuel tanks and electric cooling fan. Further rally equipment and upgrades includes a bolt in roll cage, harness, Race Tech door mirrors, plumbed in fire extinguishers, hand held fire extinguisher, H4 headlamps, Cooper S front grill, Works sump guard, Monza flip caps, heel mounts and Magnum fibre glass bonnet.
On the road this is a very fast Mini and is fantastic fun to drive. The car has been superbly set up and the engine is exceptional with lots of power. The gearbox is excellent and the Mini handles perfectly and has excellent, efficient brakes. The steering is first class, the sound of the car at high and low revs is fabulous and the car demands lots of attention. It presents almost too well for a rally car with stunning Flame Red paintwork, an exceptional bodyshell with no rust issues and superbly straight body panels. The underside is immaculate, the engine bay, boot and interior all very clean and the Mini is finished off with a set of new Minilight style wheels and the interior done very well with a range of thoughtful and practical pockets' added for stage rallying.
