We are very pleased to offer a stunning and very rare 1971 Austin Mini Cooper S MK3. 1275cc. Finished in gleaming Glacier white, this Cooper S has been very well looked after throughout its 55 year history and has virtually unique provenance and a continuous history, ticking all of the correct MK3 "S" boxes. Owning and driving one of these very special Minis is an absolute privilege. Choosing the correct one is important and choosing one with the level of provenance that this Cooper S has is about as good as it gets. This MK3 Cooper S has only had two previous owners with a warrantied mileage of just 42000 miles. It has spent its entire life in Cambridge and has been lucky enough to have been garaged its entire life.
Registered new by the Marshall Group and still proudly wearing its supplying dealer window sticker and its original Marshall leather key fob. Used initially by the bosses daughter who insisted on it having a drivers side quarter window similar to the Innocenti models. It has an excellent history file that is very rare for a Mini from this era including its original Marshalls folder, Passport to Service book, Handbook, previous V5s and MOT certificates dating back to 1974. It remains unrestored other than a good quality repaint many years ago. It has its original panels, floor pans and sills as well as being a full matching numbers example with the commission number, body number, FE number and original floor pan tag. I have been lucky enough to supply a handful of these Holy Grail Cooper S Minis over the years and they are all special, this one, however, is the stand out one for its amazing preservation and provenance, it has been an absolute pleasure to prepare and above all drive.
On the road this Cooper S will not disappoint, I absolutely love driving this Mini, the acceleration is very brisk, make no mistake, this Cooper S really flies, the original engine is very smooth and near silent and holds a very strong oil pressure and is a mated to a smooth precise low mileage gearbox. It has servo assisted disc brakes so it stops well. Handling and road holding is sublime on its Hydrolastic suspension, the uprated system used on the "S" makes it one of the best handling Minis ever made. The original ten inch Cooper S wheels with five brand new Yokohama Advan A-008 tyres gives it that legendary Mini handling. This Mini will guarantee you have a huge grin especially pushing on round the twisty stuff.
The interior is in amazing condition and a real testament to this Minis cared for life, it is completely original. The Navy blue seats still look new as do the door cards and the roof liner. It also miraculously has its original Navy carpet with the correct press studs. It has the correct Kangol Reflex seats belts and has also has rear seat belts fitted which can only be a good thing. The all important 3 clock binnacle is present and correct with that 130 MPH speedo signalling that this is no ordinary Mini. It is currently fitted with a period Formula One steering wheel and the original steering wheel will come with the Car. The boot area again is original with its factory sound proofing and boot board and the engine bay is presentable and in keeping with its originality.
This Cooper has an amazing shell as mentioned it is all as it left the factory. The paintwork gleams with a period finish. This Cooper S is a very good looking Mini that belies its vintage and is one for the serious enthusiast or someone that just wants some fun in a very special Mini. It will give its lucky new owner access to a very exclusive club and the opportunity to enjoy the unique experience that only a Cooper S offers.
This Cooper S is fully serviced, tuned, checked and driven. It has a full no advisory MOT and is MOT and Tax exempt.
