In 1911Joe Jagersberger retired from driving after he had one of his legs amputated. Jagersberger continued to work for J. I. Case, as he had before the crash, until he decided to go out on his own. The company was formed in 1914 as Rajo Manufacturing. Jagersberger restructured the company in October 1919 after he designed a head with double the performance of the stock Model T head.
Rajo Motor started out building spark plugs and other various engine parts. Jagersberger began manufacturing heads, the first design was the Model 30 which had 4 exhaust ports and one intake port all on the right side of the head.
The Model 31 had two intakes on the right and four exhaust on the left. The Model 35C, first known as the "Improved Rajo Valve-in-Head" and later as the Model C had two intakes and three exhausts on the right.
The Model A used the stock intake ports on the block. It had two exhaust ports on the right. His Model B two intakes on the right and four exhausts on the left. It came in three versions. The BB featured a higher compression ratio and the BB-R also included two spark plugs per cylinder.
This incredible Ford Model T is fitted with an original 1912 body, in 1918 the Herst “Rajo” Motor Company of Winconsin USA upgraded her for racing. The finished product produced 36HP from a 2. 8 Litre, 4 cylinder with 8 overhead valves.
Other upgrades included the Warford 3 speed gearbox, which is coupled with the uprated Ford transmission, making her a 6 speed car, Enlarged radiator, water pump, oil distribution and air inlet system, Buffalo wire racing wheels and Rocky mountain outside braking accessory.
All in all this is an incredibly fast car which is more than capable of exceeding speeds of 80mph+.
This car was Driven by Glen Shultz of Colarado Spring, winning the small class race at the 14 mile mountain race at “Pikes Peak” Nebraska on 05. 09. 1921.
Schultz raced against high powered Hudsons, Lexingtons and Packards, his time being the third fastest recorded of that era.
