Hexagon Classics are delighted to offer the rarest of all the 21st century, mainstream Ferrari’s, the 599 SA Aperta. Ferrari produced 80 cars in total, only 8 of which were right-hand drive. The car on offer today is 1 of the 8 right-drive cars produced and is chassis number 06.
This highly desirable and collectable car is the last naturally aspirated, front engine V12 convertible Ferrari built. The SA Aperta offered vast improvement over the standard 599 by incorporating aspects of the 599 GTO. Where the car differed from a GTO was the way in which the car was packaged and designed. The car managed to feel as though it were an extreme example of the standard 599 but at the same time became a useable version of the GTO. This transformation is as an important reason behind the cars desirability as the rarity of the car.
The engine was lifted directly from the 599 GTO. This meant power was up to a stratospheric 661bhp. This was harnessed by the addition of the GTO’s faster and more refined, dual clutch, paddle operated gearbox. To cope with the added performance, the SA Aperta came with a 10mm lowered ride height, recalibrated magnetic dampers, reinforced anti-roll bar and strengthened body shell that was required to make up for the loss in stiffness created by removing the roof.
This 599 SA Aperta comes with a host of optional extras and is an incredibly well specified car. The optional GTO bonnet and carbon fibre roof are both fitted to this car along with yellow brake calipers, fully electric Recaro seats and 20” chrome painted wheels. However, what makes this car stand out amongst others for the sale lies under the bonnet. Our SA Aperta is the only one to have been signed by both Luca Di Montezemolo and Fernando Alonso. These two signatures, displayed in white help to add a real kudos to this car.
