As the biggest and best-known Austin-Healey, the 3000’s legacy has far outstripped its modest eight-year production run. An iconic car in America, the big Healey arguably reached its peak with the Mk III BJ8, gaining extra power and improved power-assisted brakes over its predecessor.

With seven previous owners across 60 years and the same owner for the last 19 years, a great deal is known about the provenance of this particular Mark III. It received a full-body bare metal respray 17 years ago, and the original paint is still available to address the odd surface scratch. Touring spotlights and well-preserved chromework are other notable attributes, while Austin Healey badging in various fonts adorns the bonnet and boot lid. The wire wheels with their central twist-caps appear to be in good order.
 
Internally, this is a classic wood-and-leather British sports car. The owner says all instrumentation is working, and the few notable aftermarket modifications include a three-spoke drilled Moto-Lita steering wheel and an iPhone connection. A replacement mohair hood was professionally fitted onto the original frame in 2025, and the leather bucket seats appear to be in good condition.
 
A regular participant in touring rallies, this car has benefited from a professional engine and gearbox rebuild. It also has a recently rebuilt rear axle and upgraded brakes and suspension. The current owner reports no known faults, suggesting NYB926E has many more years of use still to come.
