The Appeal

Here’s a chance to engage with the verve of some of Ford’s most revered sporting cars, but with the added practicality of four doors. This 1973 Escort Mk1 saloon shares its DNA with the Mexico, Twin Cam and RS2000 so promises the same lightweight, rugged and, quite simply, chuckability of those hallowed models.

The car is a South African-built model that spent its life there until arriving recently in the UK. The vendor tells us that he bought it in 2017. Since buying it, the car has received a full respray in mid blue plus an interior retrim with new carpets, headlining and upholstery. The zingy 1,600cc has also been recently service. It has been dry stored when not in use.

HMRC paperwork confirms that the import duties and VAT have been paid, and the car is ready for first UK registration.
