The Appeal
Weave together masterful British engineering, effortlessly beautiful automotive design, some of the finest, luxurious interior that green money will buy and then put a 5.3 litre V12 under the bonnet and you have a serious contender for one of the greatest cars ever made. There’s good reason they were consistently part of the Royal fleet.
Jaguar, when purchasing Daimler, decided to use the brand as a trim level, and so it remained an even more luxurious top-level Jaguar. Using the series III XJ body, the Double- Six was initially produced in 1978, and 1991 was when the last of these Series III Daimler Double Six’s rolled off the line, and this particular model, produced in that year, made its way straight out to Japan, where the weather is fine and the roads remain ungritted, perfectly preserving this specimen until it was imported in 2014 when the current owner acquired it. Since then, it’s probably done approximately 500 very enjoyable miles a year, mainly with the odd visit to Goodwood and the occasional weekend outing, remaining garaged throughout.
