Pour les amateurs de World Superbike, il était facile de manquer une RC45 filant à pleine vitesse, mais son échappement caractéristique la rendait immédiatement identifiable. Conçue comme l’héritière de la RC30 et destinée à la compétition, elle demeure l’une des superbikes Honda les plus emblématiques des années 90. Elle a d’ailleurs atteint son objectif : John Kocinski a remporté le titre World Superbike 1997 à son guidon.
La clé de son succès résidait dans son moteur V4 refroidi par liquide de 749 cm³ à injection PGM-FI. Les 2 000 unités homologuées pour la route développaient 118 ch, offrant des performances de très haut niveau pour l’époque.
L’intérêt de cet exemplaire de 1994 réside dans son état d’origine, conservant peinture et carénages d’usine, et dans le fait qu’il n’aurait jamais été utilisé sur circuit selon le vendeur.
