Beschreibung

Consigned to us by a private collector of pre-war vintage vehicles comes this impeccable Morris Major Six ready for a new home.

Subject to a full nut-and-bolt restoration several years ago – including rebuilt Ash frame, engine, gearbox and axle rebuild and an exquisite full re-upholster – this car has had no expense spared in bringing it back to A1 condition. Paint and chrome work are immaculate and attention to detail is irreproachable as evidenced, for example, by the reinstatement of limited edition period trafficators. The result is, quite simply, a beautiful motor car.

Whilst it would grace any show or collection (and indeed it has), this Morris is no museum piece. It’s in great running order, drives a treat and deserves to be out on the road.

By the early ‘30s Morris had mastered the art of convenience and reliability and, true enough, this 6-cylinder 1. 8 side-valve starts on the button without fuss. It pulls through the range with eagerness and the 4-speed gearbox (which was described in the original Morris Company marketing materials as being “suited to the requirements even of the lady driver”) offers a light, unflustered feel. Whilst soft by modern standards, the hydraulic brakes are adequate for the power and weight requirements and bring the car to a genteel halt. Suspension and steering components were refreshed as part of the earlier restoration and are in good order with no untoward knocks or rattles accompanying our drives on today’s less than pristine road surfaces.

The interior is superb in every respect. The deep green leather upholstery, matching door cards and fitted carpets, baize headlining with fully operational sliding roof, new door cappings and Oak dash with correct gauges have been expertly fitted and are unmarked. But as well as being beautifully presented the actual feel is just right…driver and passenger are immediately comfortable, at ease and ready to go!

The car comes with various photographs showing its restoration and a British Motor Industry Heritage Certificate. It’s accompanied by its V5C logbook (which shows just 1 previous owner), an original owner’s operation manual, a Morris Owner’s road map, an original Morris Salesman’s manual, a 1932 Service Information manual and various numbered parts lists.

This stunning Morris looks superb and drives just as it should. Viewing is essential and can be booked strictly by appointment.
