The Appeal
This is a very rare Kappa SW V6. All Kappa Station Wagons are rare they only made 9000 examples in a Pininfarina factory in San Georgio and only a handful of them are equipped with a incredibly charismatic 3.0 V6 24v. On top of the exotic engine the car was fully equipped from the factory. It has Poltrona Frau leather seats whitch are electrically operated (even the headrests) and also heated. On top of that it has an optional steering wheel with wooden inlays. This luxurious package is completed with a 4 speed automatic gearbox. This Car spent most of its life in Italy.
This car arrived in Poland a few years ago and served its owner as a vehicle for quickly and comfortably transporting large quantities of wine and oranges from Italy to Poland. Recently, the car underwent a service in a shop specialising in Italian classics during which the engine was resealed, the alternator and starter motor were rebuilt, the timing belt drive was replaced, the air conditioning was repaired, and the oil and filters were changed. All documents are available with the car. In short, the car is ready to fulfil its original purpose: transporting people and goods across Europe with the speed and comfort of a Concorde.

Where its rivals were conceived as mass-market load luggers, Lancia didn’t have that goal in mind for its Kappa SW. Designed and coachbuilt by Pininfarina, it was always intended to be an expensive and luxurious estate. The SW’s quality and rarity made it the choice of Polish Government officials.
Most of the 9,138 build were fitted with the 2.4L TDI engine, leaving only a small number to receive Alfa Romeo’s superlative ‘Busso’ V6, here in 3L 24V capacity. Good for over 200bhp, this sonorous unit has been compared to Pavarotti’s voice.
Beautifully finished in ‘Verde Plutone’ with a black leather cabin by Poltrone Frau interior design house, the Vatican’s favourite, this 1997 SW V6 is a really gorgeous example of these ultra-rare cars. It has clearly been looked after, the exterior and interior remaining factory standard and looking barely used.
The car comes to market with a recent service in June 2025. That work included new timing belt, starter motor, alternator and a/c overhaul.
The vendor says:
“In summary, this is a remarkably rare and highly desirable Lancia Kappa SW – not only for its already limited production numbers but above all for its Busso-designed V6, making it one of the most unusual and collectable Kappas in existence. A true connoisseur’s car, equally suited to concours display or spirited weekend drives through Italy.”
