The Appeal
Bentley had a lot riding on the MkVI. It was to be the firm's first post-war car, launched at a time when few had the funds for such an opulent purchase. There was also a global steel shortage spanning well into the '50s. In fact, a five-year-old Bentley MkVI would sell second for more than the original list price, such was the insatiable demand.
This 1951 Bentley Mark VI "Big Bore" is a handsome example of the marque. These later cars, had a larger displacement, hence the "Big Bore" nickname. The vendor tells us:
"We have owned the car since 7th September 2016. In that time, it has been regularly serviced and several body panels replaced. For approximately 20 years it has been an extremely loved and reliable bridal car. It starts first time on the button every time. It has the whole car pedal-operated lubrication system."
The car comes with a rich history and a comprehensive set of factory build sheets and test records. The engine has had refurbishment work carried out, while the interior was refurbished with new leather and carpets ten years ago, still in very good condition. There is a sunroof and the original valve radio remains in the car.
If you're looking for a great example of one of Bentley's most important cars, this one has everything going for it.
