The Appeal
The ‘124’ range was one of the last of the engineering-led Mercedes-Benz. Built to withstand virtually anything, these high-quality cars are increasingly collectable. That is particularly true of rarities like this AMG-equipped 1992 320CE.
The car spent its life in Japan before joining the current keeper’s large collection a few years ago. When new, it was one of a handful of cars converted to AMG specification, including body kit, wheels and dials. It is an eye-catching and arresting car, the purposeful AMG features adding poise to the otherwise understated cabriolet lines. The effect is achieved by the ‘triple black’ finish, including the roof, Blue-Black paintwork and interior.
The photos indicate that the car is in ‘collector quality’ condition. Even the 17-inch custom-made AMG monobloc-style alloys, often a vulnerable feature, are in very good order. The leather looks barely used.
The history file supports the sense of a highly maintained and cherished car. This is one for the discerning collector.
The vendor says:
“This Mercedes never fails to impress at classic car rallies and events, often earning awards wherever it appears. It looks, sounds, and drives like a million dollars — yet fortunately, it still doesn’t cost that much.”
