The Appeal
The MkII MGA lightly tweaked the looks, notably the recessed grille and horizontal rear lights, and gained the larger 90bhp 1.6L engine that provided the performance to match the aerodynamic looks.
These pretty cars remain hugely popular, particularly with touring and eventing enthusiasts. Here is a rare chance to bring one back to life and perhaps put put your own mark and specification upon it. We’re told that it is a USA import that arrived in the UK in 2022 and is now correctly DVLA registered with the plate you see in the photos.
The car should be treated as a non-running restoration project. It is supplied with the non-running 1.6L engine and various spare parts shown in photos. Some parts have been removed as you can see in the photos so buyers should not assume all parts to complete are included.
The vendor says:
“A rare opportunity to acquire a genuine 1962 MGA 1600 Mk II Roadster, one of the most desirable versions of the MGA range. Featuring the larger 1622cc engine, recessed grille, and distinctive horizontal rear lights, the Mk II is regarded as one of the most refined and collectible MGA models.
“Imported from the USA, NOVA cleared in 2022, and now successfully registered with the DVLA on UK plates, this car has overcome many of the administrative hurdles often associated with imported classic car projects. Accompanied by a quantity of additional parts and components included in the sale, it represents an excellent basis for an enthusiast seeking a rewarding British sports car restoration project.”
