The Appeal
Classic camping really does not get prettier than an original ‘splittie’ VW camper. This one was converted very early in its life by Westfalia before being exported to the USA for a life in the sun.
Specialist Karmann Konnection imported it here in 2009 before beginning a comprehensive two year restoration. The vendor acquired it soon after completion and its great condition now is a testament to his care of much loved ‘Nora.’ The van has been used regularly for UK and European trips, being carefully dried off and stored inbetween.
With its understated, highly original aesthetics and smart refurbished Westfalia interior, this classic van is a neat alternative to customised alternatives. It is in very good running order - confirmed by an advisory-free 2023 MOT test - and looks ready for summer.

"‘Nora’ has been a great pleasure to have and has given my wife and I miles and miles of happy memories. She has her quirks and can be moody but she never once left us down. A childhood dream completed and will be very sorry to see her go."
The History and Paperwork
- Built in Wolfsburg, Germany in early 1967
- Exported for the American market as an SO 42 Campmobile by Westfalia

The Condition
- Practical Westfalia conversion with ‘double door’ side entrance
- Exterior painted in Pearl White by K.K and still has a sheen
- Paintwork shows some road wear with a few marks and chips, as seen in photos
- No major bodywork deterioration but some light areas to note in photos
- These include blemishes around the rear bumper and door apertures
- Chrome work in good order with some light deterioration noted
- Lovely original and unmodified aesthetics including steel body colour wheels
- White banded tyres and roof rack add to the classic look
- Restored original Westfalia interior with high quality wooden fittings
- Vendor reports that interior is little changed from original
- Beige leatherette seats imitates the original VW Alabaster
- Original ‘Westy’ leatherette seats shows slight wear
- Walnut roof panel in good condition with some side panels replaced
- Maintained near the stock look with some 'T' trim edging has shrivelled
- All light fixtures, locks, and windows work well according to seller
- Minor repairs made since 2011 with original paintwork inside in good condition

The Mechanics
- 1,584cc air cooled flat four engine in good order as shown

- Vendor reports that the engine runs very well
- We are told that there is a slight oil leak from gearbox
- Seller tells us that there is a little play on the crank but this is not a concern
- Reduction boxes in good condition and drives well
- Fitted with electronic ignition and 'Fire Trace' extinguisher system
