The Appeal
The TR6 was the last of a long line of very British roadsters, ones that paired big engines with stylish bodywork to deliver a car that actually needs to be driven. Focus and concentration are its watchwords rather than cosseting technology and driver aids.
Mimosa Yellow is one of the best colours for these cars. It was popular in period but is now surprisingly rare, with many repainted into more subtle hues. We’re glad this 1973 car hasn’t suffered that fate, because it looks great. It is an older 1990s restoration that has been with the current keeper since 2002. He tells us that he’s covered 6,000 miles in that time, always garaging the car and ensuring it is properly maintained by the same specialists. He certainly hasn’t skimped on the investment with the history file showing over £5,000 spent with TR specialist Enginuity in 2024 covering chassis, bodywork and engine repairs. We’ve included the invoice in the photos. Other notable work includes a new clutch in 2023 and brake work in 2021. The car is naturally MOT exempt by age, but there is a useful MOT from May 2024 to give buyers extra transparency.
This pretty car feels like the kind of TR6 you want to find - a much-loved, clearly cherished example that is ready to enjoy.
The vendor says:
“This is a much-loved car that has been well looked after and runs well. I am selling it after 25 years because my wife wants a Mini, and we don't have room for both! I will miss firing it up in the garage on a rainy Sunday afternoon just to hear the engine purr.”
