The P-X Series was the best-selling Vespa of the lot, amassing volumes of over two million sales in its lifetime. It went on sale in the same week that Elvis Presley died and continued until 2008, and would no doubt still be in production were it possible to make the two-stroke engine Euro 4 compliant. Instead, the classic scooter’s frame live on in the Vespa Elletrica EV, and the original has a cult following among collectors and scooter enthusiasts.
This example is a 1981 model that was purchased by the vendor in 2016 as a box of parts, imported from Italy. He meant to get around to restoring and reassembling it for the past few years before finally cracking on with it late last year and early this, sourcing a new engine as the one supplied was incorrect.
Now restored, the P125X is in good working order and sports a fresh coat of Ferrari Blue paint, which the vendor chose after seeing a car being painted the same colour at a local bodyshop.
It has been comprehensively overhauled and is good to go.
