The Appeal

Roll back 40 years and if you wanted to get the curtains twitching on your suburban street you parked this car on your drive. Back then, nothing said ‘success’ like a 2.8L Granada estate with top Ghia X trim. Alloy wheels, bright chromework, a new-fangled ‘trip computer’, a drizzle of veneer and electrics everywhere made these big cars the indulgent alternative to Mercedes’ parsimony.

They were popular then but are rare sights today. Especially in the condition of this very low mileage car. It must be one of the last built - it was first registered after the MkIII was launched - and has had just seven keepers during its 40 years.

The condition is truly impressive, the many original features retained and in good working order. The blue and grey velour cabin is a particular treat and seems not to have suffered the usual Ghia deterioration.

The current keeper has cherished it since 2012 and is only selling due to loss of garage space. Recent work has included a full gearbox rebuild 100 miles ago. The alternator, water pump and exhaust have also been replaced. The MOT runs to the end of July 2025.

With four big comfy seats, oodles of luxury toys and a capacious boot, this very tidy Granny is good to go.
