The Appeal
Peter Stevens’ late-life makeover of the Esprit was much more than a simple refresh—it cleverly evolved the razor-edged wedge into something sleeker and more modern, while also introducing much-improved mechanicals. The 1990 Esprit Turbo SE represents the ultimate evolution of this era, featuring the revised Type 910 engine with charge cooling and a punchy 280bhp on overboost. Just 1,608 SEs were built, making this a rare and thrilling slice of Lotus history. With sharper styling, a rear spoiler, and sculpted side skirts, the SE added a dash of drama to match the performance.
This example is offered boasting a solid service history which is accompanied by 29 service stamps in the booklet, as well as other written maintenance presumably by doting previous owners. This handsome Pacific blue metallic over magnolia example boasts elegant burr wood trims inside. It has been with its current owner since February 2020, and the five-figure odometer indicates 61,842 miles.
Backed by a plethora of service stamps, this car appears to have been fastidiously maintained and was last serviced by Allon White Sportscars in September of 2024 at 61,360 miles, since which it has seen sparing use. This sense of fastidiousness is carried through to the interior and exterior, and a long, advisory-free MOT until February 2026 underlines this sense of a well kept car in fine order.
